Introducing Kent Aobao

Kent Oboo is an oboo built with saxaul wood on top of the Wulanxili in the old Kebolbag area (now Bayin'aobao Gacha, Wusitai Town, Alxa Economic Development Zone). Legend has it that after Genghis Khan's death in 1227, his servants carried his coffin in a horse-drawn cart pulled by five-colored horses toward the Kent Mountains on the banks of the Onon River. Passing by the Harunay Mountains, the cart's wheels became stuck, and the horses, unable to move forward, became trapped. The people then believed this was Genghis Khan's final resting place. Later, people buried many offerings in the pit where Genghis Khan's hearse had sunk, and built an oboo with saxaul wood, naming it "Kent Oboo" in his memory.

Because Kent Aobao was severely damaged during the Cultural Revolution, the Party Committee and government of Wusitai Town in the Development Zone rebuilt it in 2010 to preserve and protect this intangible cultural heritage. They are also preparing to apply for a Guinness World Record for the world's largest Haloxylon ammodendron Aobao. Today, Kent Aobao, along with the two million mu (approximately 1,000 hectares) of natural Haloxylon ammodendron forests and the Keboer Sacred Tree, and other scenic attractions, have become an excellent regional tourist route, rich in historical and cultural heritage and natural beauty.
