Introducing Changxi Ancient Town

Changxi Ancient Town, located in southern She County, was founded in the Tang Dynasty and epitomizes the ancient culture of Huizhou. Facing east and west, Changxi Town is sheltered by the crystal-clear Changxi River and framed by the lush Lailong Mountain. Since the Ming Dynasty, a 3-kilometer-long ancient architectural complex stretching from Jing'an Temple in the south to Wuben Hall in the north has been constructed .

Changxi has attached great importance to ecology since ancient times. Not only does the surrounding mountains and waters have good ecology, but there are also many ancient trees outside the water mouth of the village. There are more than 20 ponds and even more ancient wells in the village. The houses are lined up one after another, confusing and like a maze.

Changxi is rich in historical relics: there are a large number of calligraphy and painting works from the Song and Ming dynasties, including paintings inscribed by Emperor Huizong of Song, plaques inscribed by Kang Youwei, Li Hongzhang, Hai Rui and Zhu Yuanzhang, palace ivory court tablets and dragon robes, and bone and ivory beds of rare animals.
