The Zhuangzi Shrine, located in the eastern gate of Mengcheng County, Anhui Province, is a Taoist temple. Built on the site of the former Qiyuan Garden on the north bank of the Wohe River, its main buildings include the Xiaoyao Hall, Mengdie Tower, and Guanyu Terrace. Annual sacrifices were held without interruption until it was submerged by floods during the Tianshun period of the Ming Dynasty. "Records of the Zhuangzi Shrine" is included in The Complete Works of Su Dongpo.
In the fifth year of the Chongzhen reign of the Ming Dynasty ( 1632 ), the county magistrate Li Shifang rebuilt Xiaoyao Hall, added the Wuxiao Pavilion, and created a pond as the Zhuangzi Haoshang Fish-Watching Garden. He also wrote a new "Record of the Newly Renovated Zhuangzi Shrine" and engraved a stele on it and placed it inside the shrine. In front of the gate stood a stone stele over ten feet high, inscribed with the four large characters " Zhuang Zhou's Hometown . "
