Introducing Huangshan Tower

Huangshan Pagoda, located at the summit of Huangshan Mountain, 2.5 kilometers north of Dangtu County, Anhui Province, was originally constructed as an eight-foot-tall Buddhist pagoda by Emperor Wu of the Southern Song Dynasty, Liu Yu, after he replaced the Jin Dynasty. The existing pagoda is no longer the original. The present pagoda, with five floors and eight sides, stands 23 meters tall. It is hollow, with a pointed top and wide bottom, tapering gradually. The tower features prominent eaves and brickwork imitating wooden brackets. Weathered by wind and rain, the pagoda now tilts slightly, a testament to its age.

In ancient times, the mountain boasted the Song Dynasty Imperial Villa, Lingqiu Terrace, Huaigu Terrace, and Shiqing Hall. The five-foot-tall Lingqiu Terrace at the summit is said to have been Liu Yu's summer retreat. Despite several renovations, the Huangshan Pagoda retains the style of the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
