Xiliang Mountain, located 36 kilometers south of Hexian County, stands 88.1 meters above sea level. Overlooking the Yangtze River, it faces Wuhu City's Dongliang Mountain across the river. Resembling a gateway from heaven, it is collectively known as " Tianmen Mountain . " From the river, the East and West Liang Mountains, nestled against the misty waters, appear emerald green, graceful and tranquil, their shape resembling Mount Emei. This gives them the nickname " Emei Mountain. " The two peaks, facing each other, resemble a crouching tiger, earning them the nickname " Erhu Mountain . "
Xiliang Mountain is home to towering ancient trees and fragrant wildflowers. Winding stone steps lead to a secluded path, leading to the North Summit Memorial Pavilion. From the railing, overlooking the surging river, it resembles a thousand horses galloping. The eight renowned scenic spots, including Tianmen Night Moon, Bowang Morning Glow, Chenqiao Ferry Calling, Shi'an Watching the Waves, Dragon Palace Dusk Snow, Quge Shuzhong, Dizhou Dusk Rain, and Willow Bank Spring Orioles, are among Xiliang Mountain's most scenic spots.
Xiliang Mountain, with its strategic location, has been a battleground for military strategists throughout history. Since the 17th year of Duke Zhao of Zhou, the Wu army attacked Chu at Chang'an (now Xiliang Mountain), and warfare has continued there ever since. During the Chinese People's Liberation Army's Yangtze River crossing operation, the 90th Division of the Third Field Army was ordered to attack Xiliang Mountain, engaging in fierce fighting with the Kuomintang troops there. To commemorate the sacrifice of Lieshan, the " Monument to the People's Heroes " , " Martyrs Memorial Pavilion " and " Martyrs Memorial Tower " were built here .
