Visitors to Ancient Huidao can explore the well-preserved ancient pathways, enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding nature, and learn about the historical significance of the trail as a part of ancient trade routes. It's perfect for history buffs and nature lovers alike.

The Jugenguan Ancient Huidao Road, nestled on Xianyu Mountain at the junction of Shitai, Qimen, and Dongzhi counties in southern Anhui, was formerly known as the "Huirao Tongqu." It served as an interprovincial thoroughfare connecting Huizhou with Raozhou in Jiangxi Province, also known as a "national highway" in ancient times. Since the Tang Dynasty, the Huidao Road has been a vital hub for commercial and travel exchanges, as well as for the coordination of civil and military affairs in southern China. In May 2013, it was designated by the State Council as one of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Sites.
The Ancient Huidao, a heritage cultural route, boasts high comprehensive and holistic value for culture, commerce, military, and ecology. Along the route and on Xianyu Mountain, where it lies, numerous ancient buildings, the Great Wall, tombs, pavilions, stone tablets, stone carvings, stone sculptures, battlefields, temples, and nunneries from the Ming and Qing dynasties are preserved.

Ancient Great Wall
Built during the Taiping Rebellion, this 14-kilometer-long stone pass is known as Jugen Pass. This 3.5-meter-high pass is constructed entirely of bluestone slabs. Jugen Pass's strategic location, easy to defend but difficult to attack, made it a crucial strategic point on the ancient Huidao Road. As such, it became a battleground for ancient military strategists, particularly during the Qing Dynasty. The "Draft History of the Qing Dynasty" alone contains two references to the Battle of Jugen Pass. This provides invaluable firsthand information for research on the Taiping Rebellion and other historical events.
Guxi Pavilion
The inscription reads "I have heard that building bridges and repairing roads are all for good deeds...", which means that there was an old man in Yongle who lived a happy life. In order to repay the grace of heaven, he built a pavilion. Because he was seventy years old, it was named "Guxi Pavilion".
Buddhist cultural relics
Before the Ming Dynasty, numerous temples existed, including Xianyu Temple, Miyan Temple, Tianshang Temple, Yuantong Temple, Shangming Temple, Hongting Temple, and Maoting Temple. Of the five major Buddhist sects, four, including the Caodong and Caodong sects, were concentrated here (the ruins of the Caodong sect temple still exist). A stele inscribed with the "Qing'an Pagoda Inscription," written by Wang Daokun, Assistant Minister of War, stands beneath a stone pillar next to the Qing'an Pagoda. The four large characters "Caodong Authentic Sect" are still clearly visible.
