Wucheng Old Street is located in the south of Xiuning County, 26 kilometers away from the county seat. Wucheng is a thousand-year-old town and ancient post station on the ancient road from the state capital to Wuyuan. It is one of the important towns in Xiuning County. For many years, it has been the cargo transportation, transit and distribution center between the ancient Huizhou Prefecture and Wuyuan, and a resting place for pedestrians traveling from all over the country. Even today, its post station function has not completely withdrawn from the stage of history.

Before the 1970s, Wucheng had only one Old Street, a vast expanse stretching three li (approximately 1.3 mi) across. Divided into Upper Street, Middle Street, and Lower Street, it served as the political, economic, cultural, and commercial center of Wucheng. With the opening of the Xiuwu Highway in the 1970s, Wucheng's economic and commercial centers shifted to both sides of the highway, gradually forming a new neighborhood. Wucheng Old Street subsequently fell into disuse and decline.

Wucheng Old Street boasts a rich cultural heritage, forming a distinct local character. The most influential and representative of these events is the " Zhongjingwang Temple Fair ," held annually on the 24th day of the seventh lunar month . For three days before and after the fair, the people of Wucheng beat victory drums and solemnly commemorate Zhang Xun, the great hero who quelled the An Lushan Rebellion and died a heroic death. Villagers from all over the country flock to the fair, creating a bustling atmosphere and a vibrant atmosphere.
