The ruins of the ancient city of Linhuan are located in Linhuan Town , 35 kilometers southwest of Suixi County, Huaibei City, northeast of Linhuan Town, and facing the Rui River (ancient Huan River) to the south. The city was built in the Spring and Autumn Period. Its ancient name was Zhicheng. It is an ancient city built facing the Huan River.
The ancient city wall, circumferentially circumnavigating the city walls, is square in plan, with a total length of approximately 5,690 meters and a current height varying from 5 to 7 meters. Rammed-earth walls surrounded a moat. The earthen city walls are square in shape, and their foundations are largely intact. The terrain to the east, west, and north of the city walls is flat, with the majority of the city buildings concentrated in the southern part. Three prominent high points still exist, with the observatory being the most notable.
