Introducing Huaibei
Huaibei is an ancient city steeped in history. As early as the Neolithic Age, our ancestors inhabited and prospered on the land of Xiangshan and Suixi. The ancient rock paintings on Louding Mountain in Duji District and the ancient cultural relics of Shishanzi, 7 kilometers southeast of Suixi County, bear witness to our city's rich history and splendid civilization. Legend has it that in the 21st century BC, Xiangtu, the 11th-generation ancestor of Shang Tang, the founder of the Shang Dynasty, expanded his territory eastward and built a city on the southern slope of Xiangshan Mountain, hence the names Xiangshan and Xiangcheng. The "Shang Ode" in the "Book of Songs," one of China's earliest anthologies of poetry, contains the line "Xiangtu's valor is recorded overseas."
