The ancient city of Chongwu in Hui'an County is renowned both domestically and internationally as the "Hometown of Stone Carving." For centuries, its stone carving craftsmanship has been renowned far and wide, with stone carvers traveling extensively. Since its opening in 1998, the Chongwu Stone Carving Craft Expo Park has welcomed millions of visitors from both home and abroad.
The China Stone Carving Craft Expo Park is one of the few theme parks in my country showcasing exquisite stone carvings. It houses over 500 stone sculptures of diverse styles, seamlessly blending with the ancient city and the sea. Renowned painter Hong Shiqing has dedicated years of meticulous work to creating over 170 works of art, drawing inspiration from the primitive forms of reefs and cliffs, adapting their shapes and sculpting them to capture both form and spirit. Among these works is "Land Art," the largest rock sculpture in China, a truly remarkable spectacle.
The park features over 500 stone sculptures of varying shapes and forms, seamlessly blending with the ancient city and the sea, showcasing unique craftsmanship. These sculptures encompass a wide range of Chongwu's long-standing stone carving styles, including round sculpture, relief sculpture, shadow sculpture, line sculpture, and sunken sculpture. The park is divided into 25 scenic areas, including the Stone Sculpture Zoo, Lion Grove Garden, Mazu Art Exhibition Area, Stone Sculpture Art Treasures Museum, Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Water Margin Characters, Journey to the West, Twelve Zodiac Animals, Twenty-Four Filial Piety, Eight Immortals, Huidong Women, Guanyinpo Scenic Area, Chinese Gods Exhibition Area, Chongwu Stone Sculpture Art Major Project Exhibition Hall, and Hui Women Statue Square. Exquisite craftsmanship, magnificent stone architecture, unique stone structures, and vibrant stone carvings complement each other beautifully. Nestled beneath the ancient city and on the shores of the vast ocean, this artistic wonder captivates visitors with its unique charm.
The subtropical monsoon climate; China Stone Carving Craft Expo Park is one of the few stone carving parks in the country. You can stroll along the seaside green space while admiring the beautiful stone carvings. It is one of the few theme parks that gathers exquisite stone carvings and is suitable for travel in all seasons.

The park is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The best times to visit are during the spring and autumn months when the weather is mild and ideal for outdoor exploration.
The entrance fee is approximately 30 RMB. Tickets can be purchased at the park entrance or online through local travel platforms.
Booking in advance is not necessary for most visitors, but it is recommended during peak tourist seasons or for special events. It’s best to book at least a day or two in advance during busy periods.
Allow about 2 to 3 hours to fully explore the park, including visiting the stone carving exhibitions and participating in workshops.

The best photography spots are near the large outdoor stone carvings, as well as the exhibition halls where intricate details of the carvings can be captured. The park’s peaceful surroundings also provide good opportunities for nature shots.
Start with the main exhibition halls to learn about the history and techniques of stone carving, then head to the outdoor area for a closer look at the large sculptures. End your visit by exploring the workshop areas where you can try out stone carving techniques.
Night visits are not available, and there are no light shows. Special tours are sometimes offered for groups or during festivals, so it’s worth checking the schedule ahead of time.
The park can get busy on weekends and public holidays. To avoid the crowds, visit on weekdays, especially in the morning or late afternoon.

Nearby attractions include the Quanzhou Maritime Museum, Kaiyuan Temple, and the Qingjing Mosque. These can easily be combined in a day trip with the Stone Carving Craft Expo Park.
There are souvenir shops selling local crafts, including stone carvings, pottery, and traditional Chinese art. Some shops also sell postcards and small decorative items featuring the park’s sculptures.
Taxis and local buses are the best options for continuing your trip after visiting the park. Alternatively, if you are heading to other attractions in Quanzhou, buses or rental cars can be convenient options.
