Fisherman's Island, a small island jutting into Lihu Lake, is named after the story of Fan Li, a high official of the State of Yue, and Xi Shi, who sailed on Wuli Lake during the late Spring and Autumn Period. After his success, Fan Li retired to Wuli Lake with Xi Shi, where he raised fish and farmed. He also wrote my country's first treatise on fish farming, "Yangyu Jing." Locals revered him as the "Fisherman," and the island was named Fisherman's Island.
