Kaifeng University is a full-time general university approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government, registered with the Ministry of Education, and sponsored by the Kaifeng Municipal People's Government.
The school was founded in 1980 and was originally a branch of Henan Normal University (now Henan University). In 1981, it was renamed Kaifeng Daytime University and in 1984, it was renamed Kaifeng University. [1] In 2004, it was selected as a pilot university for the training of skilled and in-demand talents in national construction. [2] In 2017, the college was selected as a national high-quality higher vocational college construction project in Henan Province.
According to the school's official website in May 2019, the school covers an area of more than 1,500 mu, with a total building area of approximately 414,500 square meters, approximately 237,700 square meters of teaching, scientific research and administrative space, and a total value of 136.9661 million yuan in teaching and scientific research equipment. It has 12 colleges, 2 departments, 5 public teaching and research departments, 59 permanent majors [3], 1,070 faculty and staff on and off campus, and 14,367 full-time students.

Entering the university from the south gate on Jin'an Road, the Kaifeng University School of Management stands in front, the School History Museum to the east, and the gymnasium to the west. The Kaifeng University Gymnasium is arranged in layers, featuring a competition hall, three practice halls, and six spectator lounges. North of the School History Museum is the School of Business Administration, and further north is the Concert Hall. The Kaifeng University Concert Hall is adorned with black metal mesh, echoing the style of pop and contemporary music. The Pop Concert Hall is also equipped with professional lighting and audio-visual equipment, primarily for performances by electronic and pop bands, original music concerts, and music salons.
