
Pingliangtai, located 4 kilometers southeast of Huaiyang County, Henan Province , is an ancient city from the Longshan Culture. The site, approximately 5 meters high and covering 100 mu (approximately 16 acres), is square in shape. The Pingliangtai ancient city site, located in Wanqiu, dates back over 4,600 years and is the earliest ancient city site unearthed in China.
The "Chen Feng Wanqiu" poem in the "Book of Songs," my country's first comprehensive collection of poetry, as well as in the "Er Ya Annotations" and "Book of Jin," features mentions of Pingliangtai. Based on historical records and geographical analysis, Pingliangtai is the ancient capital of Wanqiu, the site of Emperor Taihao and the capital of Shennong. This ancient city, considered the oldest, largest, and best preserved, holds significant value and significance for the study of key academic issues such as the emergence of ancient Chinese cities, the origins of the state, and early slavery.
A large number of precious cultural relics have been unearthed here, including production tools, daily necessities, and decorations used by primitive people . There are many traces of earthen houses where primitive people lived in the ancient city ruins, and there are also remains of kiln sites where primitive people fired pottery .
