Located atop Beigaofeng Mountain in Hangzhou, the world's first temple dedicated to the God of Wealth, formerly known as Lingshun Temple , boasts a history of over 1,600 years and is Hangzhou's oldest famous temple. It is one of the " Five Ling " temples (Lingjiu, Lingyin, Lingfeng, Lingshun, and Lingshan) built by the eminent Indian monk Huili in Hangzhou. In the early Northern Song Dynasty, the temple's enshrinement of the Five Manifestations of Wealth led to its popular name, " Temple of the God of Wealth . "
Xu Wenchang, a talented scholar from Jiangnan, left behind the inscription " The First Temple of the God of Wealth in the World " during his visit to the temple. A plaque remains on the temple grounds to this day. The existing main hall, built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, is magnificent and considered the largest temple of the God of Wealth in China.
