Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University (Donghu Campus) is a prominent educational institution specializing in agricultural and forestry sciences. The university plays a vital role in advancing research and education in agriculture, contributing significantly to the agricultural development in Zhejiang Province.
The campus is located in the Donghu area of Hangzhou, Zhejiang. It is accessible by taxi or public bus from the city center. The nearest metro station is around 20-30 minutes away by bus or taxi.
The university campus is open year-round, but access to certain facilities, like botanical gardens or labs, may require prior permission. The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn, when the weather is pleasant and the campus is in full bloom.
Entry to the campus is free. However, some special exhibitions or events might require tickets, which can usually be purchased on-site or through the university's official website.
For general visits, tickets are not required, but it is advisable to book in advance for special exhibitions or events, especially during busy seasons or holidays. A few days to a week in advance is recommended.
You can explore the main areas of the campus in about 2-3 hours. However, if you plan to visit specific departments, attend lectures, or explore the botanical gardens, you may want to allocate more time.
Guided tours are available for groups and can be arranged in advance through the university’s visitor center. These tours are typically conducted in Chinese, but English-speaking guides may be available upon request.
Start your visit with a tour of the botanical gardens, followed by a stroll along the lakeside. If time permits, you can explore academic buildings or attend any ongoing events or exhibitions.
Night visits are not typically available, but the campus is beautifully illuminated in the evening. Special tours or events may occur during the university's open days or seasonal festivals.
The campus is not generally crowded, but it may become busier during the university's open days or special events. Weekdays, especially during non-holiday periods, tend to be quieter.
The campus offers essential facilities, including clean toilets, rest areas, and water fountains. There are small campus cafes and vending machines for snacks and drinks, but for a wider selection, it's best to head into the nearby city center.
The campus is generally accessible, with paved paths and elevators in academic buildings. However, some outdoor areas, like the botanical gardens, may be more challenging for those with mobility issues.
Mobile payments (e.g., Alipay, WeChat Pay) are widely accepted, and cards are also usable at most places. Cash is not essential but can be helpful for small purchases or donations.
Vegetarian options are available in campus cafes, and many nearby restaurants also offer vegetarian and vegan dishes. Halal options may be limited, but there are several halal-friendly restaurants in Hangzhou city.
There are no major souvenir shops on campus, but you can find typical Hangzhou souvenirs like Longjing tea, silk products, and local handicrafts in the city center.
