Hangzhou Wetland Botanical Garden, located in Xixi Wetland National Park, mainly displays wetland plants from Xixi's distinctive base pond system, river beaches and other ecological diversity, as well as the collection, cultivation and exhibition of aquatic and wetland plants from across the country. Its main functions are leisure tourism, scientific research and popular science education, and the demonstration and introduction and breeding of aquatic plants.

The Wetland Botanical Garden boasts China's longest outdoor underwater ecological viewing corridor, spanning 137 meters. The highlight of the corridor is the opportunity to observe a variety of submerged plants and ornamental fish. As visitors descend the steps, aquatic plants, fish, and shrimp on both sides unfold like a colorful scroll.

At present, more than 600 species of wetland plants have been cultivated , including more than 100 species of trees , nearly 250 species of wetland shrubs , more than 150 species of emergent plants, more than 30 species of floating plants , more than 50 species of floating-leaf plants , and more than 30 species of submerged plants .
