Introducing Farewell Pine

The Farewell Pine, one of Huangshan's ten famous pines, stands 4.8 meters tall and approximately 450 years old. Standing by the path to the right of Yuping Tower, its branches and leaves extend sideways, as if bowing to bid farewell. This pine tree, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has a twisted, verdant trunk and a branch extending sideways, resembling a farewell gesture, hence the name "Farewell Pine."

The Farewell Pine Tree is said to have been transplanted. The original one died decades ago, and a new one was subsequently planted. The tree is so lush, you can't tell it's newly planted. The surroundings are pleasant, but people are hesitant to get too close for photos, preferring to sit or squat a bit closer. Most pine trees planted in Huangshan tend to grow in rock crevices, which is quite impressive. Perhaps this is how the trees retain their vitality.

Since we had come up from the back mountain, we descended along the front mountain. The front mountain is quite long, but reaching this pine tree felt like more than half the distance had been covered. The tree isn't very tall, but it has a very sturdy appearance. The Farewell Pine is right next to Yuping Tower, with a spacious platform where many tourists relax on the stone benches. I heard Yuping Tower itself has a history, but the accommodation and meals are quite expensive, so I didn't go inside to see it, and just sat outside for a while. There were so many tour groups that this place seemed like a hub, with each tour guide calling out to their group on a microphone, that finding someone must have been quite a hassle.
