Introducing Aoyu Peak

Located in the central part of Huangshan Mountain, it is named after its resemblance to a giant fish with its mouth open, awaiting food. It is the highest of Huangshan's 36 minor peaks. Descending from Lotus Peak, passing the Turtle and Snake Stones, the Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder, and through Lotus Cave, you arrive at Aoyu Peak. This peak, 1,780 meters above sea level, is named after its shape: its massive, raised head, resembling a whale swallowing the world.

At the peak's waist lies a triangular Aoyu Cave, with the words "Made by Heaven" inscribed on its forehead. Inside, a staircase leads visitors in and out, creating a scene reminiscent of a giant turtle swallowing and spitting out its food. In front of the peak are several rocks that resemble snails from a distance. At the peak's back lies a large, ingenious turtle-shaped rock, with several egg-shaped rocks lying nearby, creating scenes of a giant turtle carrying a golden tortoise and an old turtle laying eggs.

Climate and best time to travel

The subtropical monsoon climate makes it suitable for traveling and enjoying the beautiful scenery all year round.

Recommended number of days and locations for visiting

Aoyu Peak is shaped like an aoyu, and the rocks in front of it are like snails, which makes it look like an aoyu eating a snail. It's not too far from Aoyu Peak to the Welcoming Pine, but unfortunately, just as we arrived at the Welcoming Pine, the clouds and mist rose, and the background seemed to become a paving cloth, so we could only take a quick photo.
