Crucian Carp Back, located on Tiandu Peak, is renowned for its treacherous terrain. From the foot of Tiandu Peak, hold onto the iron railings and ascend 1,564 steps along the "Heavenly Ladder" to a rocky sill at 1,770 meters above sea level. This is the essential step to the summit. This sill is over 10 meters long and only 1 meter wide, flanked by towering cliffs. Its shape, unfathomable, resembles the back of a crucian carp lurking amidst the waves, hence the name. From top to bottom, the slope reaches a steep 85 degrees. In windy conditions, the mountain shakes and rocks seem to tremble, making the climb even more treacherous.
Legend has it that in ancient times, there lived a crucian carp that would follow a carp to the Yellow River to jump over the Dragon Gate every year. However, after countless attempts, it always failed. A deity told it, "You must do a good deed for the world, and then you can jump over the Dragon Gate." Upon reaching Mount Huangshan, known as the "Yellow Sea," it saw the road to Tiandu Peak cut off by a gorge, making it impossible for tourists to climb. So, it raised its back and used it as a bridge for visitors.
The subtropical monsoon climate makes it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
The crucian carp back at the top of the mountain is a small path that can only be passed by one person. It is very narrow and there are cliffs on both sides, so it is suitable for trying.
It is recommended to play for about 2 hours.
