Pearl Spring, now the office of the Shandong Provincial People's Congress, was formerly the Shandong Governor's Office. Before that, it was the Prince De's Palace during the Ming Dynasty. Wangfu Pond was originally located within the palace's courtyard, hence the name. After the Qing army captured Jinan, the palace was abolished and replaced with the Governor's Office. Wangfu Pond was then carved out and left to the public, leaving the pond in the hands of ordinary people. While the name still retains its grandeur, it was once the palace's courtyard, now found in the homes of ordinary people.
