The Jinxiuchuan Reservoir is located in the middle reaches of the Jinxiuchuan River, in Jinxiuchuan Township. Completed in 1970, it is a medium-sized reservoir. Its dam is a 47.4-meter-high, 378-meter-long, arched mortar-stone overflow gravity dam with 10 artesian vents. During the summer flood season, water overflows from these 10 vents, creating a majestic waterfall resembling clouds of smoke.
The Jinxiuchuan Reservoir Management Office has evolved from a single agricultural irrigation facility to a multifunctional management unit encompassing agricultural irrigation, urban water supply, hydropower generation, catering, fish farming, and water conservancy development. The Jinxiuchuan Reservoir boasts a pleasant climate, with warm winters and cool summers. In summer, the reservoir is particularly warm, offering a peaceful escape from the scorching heat. During peak season, the reservoir water surges, overflowing from the dam's artesian vents to create spectacular waterfalls.
Jinan has a temperate monsoon climate with obvious monsoons and distinct four seasons: dry and rainy spring, warm and rainy summer, cool and dry autumn, and cold and snowy winter.
