Huangshan Peak is located within the Pearl Islands in the southeastern area of Thousand Island Lake, 8 kilometers from Thousand Island Lake Town and directly across from the Xianshan Tourist Resort. Its main peak, at 266 meters above sea level, is the highest island in the Pearl Islands. From Huangshan Peak, one can admire the breathtaking scenery of Thousand Island Lake, where over 90 islands of varying sizes are arranged in a natural formation, forming the Chinese character for "天下为公," (world for the public). This is a truly remarkable feat.
The Huangshan Peak Scenic Area is characterized by " beautiful water, unique islands and secluded scenery " . There are also viewing platforms halfway up the mountain and at the top of the mountain. You can choose to take the cable car up the mountain, or climb the steps to feel the birdsong and the fragrance of flowers.
Looking southeast, a deep canyon passes between the peak of Huangshan Mountain and Xianshan Island; looking southwest, there is an endless lake, with Laoshan Island hidden in the clouds ... The various islands and the mysterious and winding harbors constitute a beautiful landscape.

Huangshan Peak is part of the Huangshan (Yellow Mountains) range, famous for its dramatic granite peaks, ancient pine trees, hot springs, and seas of clouds. It has been celebrated in Chinese art and literature for centuries and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, symbolizing natural beauty and cultural significance in China.
Huangshan Peak is located in Huangshan City, Anhui Province (not Zhejiang). Visitors can reach the mountain via bus or taxi from Huangshan city center. From the base, hiking trails or cable cars are used to reach the peak. The nearest railway station is Huangshan North Station, and buses connect to the mountain entrances.
Huangshan Scenic Area is generally open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The best times to visit are spring and autumn for mild weather and clear skies. Sunrise visits are highly recommended for spectacular views.
Booking in advance is recommended during peak season (April to October) and public holidays. Tickets can be booked a few days to a week in advance to ensure availability.
Exploring Huangshan Peak fully can take 4–8 hours, depending on hiking speed and whether you use cable cars.
Guided tours are available in Chinese and sometimes English. Audio guides may be rented at ticket offices or through tourism apps for multiple languages.
Night visits are generally not available. Special sunrise tours are popular, and occasional cultural events may be organized at the base or nearby areas.
The area can be crowded during weekends, public holidays, and peak season. Weekdays in spring and autumn are least crowded. Early morning arrivals help avoid large groups.
Facilities include restrooms at trailheads and scenic points, small snack stalls, souvenir shops, and resting areas. Restaurants and hot springs are available near the base.
Some trails are steep and require good mobility. Cable cars provide easier access for elderly or less mobile visitors. Children should be supervised on trails.
Cash, cards, and mobile payments are widely accepted at ticket offices and restaurants near the entrances. Small vendors may prefer cash.
Vegetarian options are available in most restaurants; vegan and halal options are limited and may require prior planning.
Souvenir shops near entrances sell local handicrafts, Huangshan pine needle products, postcards, teas, and small cultural artifacts.
