Mishan Island, located in the southeastern part of the Qiandao Lake Scenic Area, is a small, Zen-inspired island, covering only 0.36 square kilometers and 223 meters above sea level. Atop the island stands the Mishan Zen Temple, the site of the legendary " Three Monks with No Water to Drink . "
Mishan Island boasts not only picturesque scenery but also a rich Zen culture. Some have described it as " an ancient temple hidden among emerald lakes and verdant mountains . " Indeed, Mishan has been a Buddhist sanctuary since ancient times. Thanks to extensive renovations in recent years, it has become a unique and picturesque lakeside paradise.
Although developed relatively recently, Mishan Island boasts excellent ecological preservation. The adorable, lively reptiles lurking in the cracks of the stone steps often accompany you as you stroll. The dense bamboo forest imbues the island with vibrant life. The towering ancient trees dot the mountain, each quaint and unique, yet graceful and elegant. The natural beauty of vines entwining trees and vice versa is breathtaking, creating a fascinating and captivating experience for visitors.
The island is suitable for all seasons. In spring, when you come to Mishan Island, you can pick and taste tea in the tea garden on the top of the island. You can drink the new tea brewed with spring water drawn from the Song Well by yourself, and taste the unique charm of the tea. In summer, when you come to Mishan Island, you may as well carry one or two watermelons on your back. On the one hand, you can experience the fun of " carrying weights " to climb high, and on the other hand, you can soak the ice-sweet watermelon in the clear Song Well water. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains and spend an extremely relaxing time.
