The Dongzhaigang National Nature Reserve is located in northeastern Hainan Province, in Yanfeng Town, Meilan District, Haikou City. It boasts the largest coastal mudflat forest in my country, stretching 28 kilometers along a coastline that is considered one of Hainan's eight most beautiful coastlines. Due to the land sinking into the sea, the area has a funnel-like shape, with a winding coastline and gently sloping lagoons. Mangroves are distributed throughout the shallow coastal areas. The mangroves within the reserve are known as a "forest park on the sea" and are considered a world-renowned geological wonder, known as an "underwater village."
A boat trip is essential to fully appreciate the reserve's beauty. Although it's called a mangrove forest, the foliage remains a lush, verdant green. The boat winds along the coastal path, passing through half-submerged mangroves, and marvels at their tenacious vitality. With luck, you might even spot a variety of birds during the boat trip, especially in autumn and winter, when this area is a haven for migratory birds.
Tropical maritime monsoon climate;
Autumn and winter are the best time to visit, as you may be able to see migratory birds.
