The Yu Quyuan Memorial Hall, also known as Yu Lou and Yu Pingbo's Former Residence, is located at 32 Gushan Road , south of Xiling Bridge. It is the former residence of Yu Yue, a renowned scholar and master of Chinese studies in the late Qing Dynasty. Yu Yue served as an editor in the Hanlin Academy. After his dismissal, he returned to Suzhou and Hangzhou to write and lecture. Zhang Taiyan and Wu Changshuo were his disciples.

The predecessor of Yu Tower was the West Lake Gujing Jingshe, with its back against Solitary Mountain and facing West Lake. Yu Yue lectured here for 30 years. Yu Tower was built by his disciples, and Yu Yue's descendant, Mr. Yu Pingbo, lived here for many years.

The memorial hall features a double-eaved hip roof, two stories and three bays, with gray walls, black tiles, and ochre siding. Spanning approximately 350 square meters, it is divided into two floors. The ground floor displays historical materials related to Yu Yue, while the second floor is used for hosting scholars and conducting academic research.
