Introducing Lin Fengmian's Former Residence

Lin Fengmian's former residence is located at No. 3 Lingyin Road, next to the main gate of the Botanical Garden. Lin Fengmian is one of the founders of modern art education in China, founding the National Academy of Arts (the predecessor of the current China Academy of Art) in 1928. He lived in exile in mainland China during the Anti-Japanese War and returned to Hangzhou after the victory. West Lake provided him with painting materials and artistic inspiration, profoundly influencing his character and style.

This two-story, Western-style building, built between 1934 and 1935 , is 300 square meters and was built by Lin Fengmian himself. He lived there for 10 years. The residence displays works from different periods of his life, and the studio and other furnishings have been preserved in their original state.
