Yuxian Palace, a renowned Taoist shrine and National AAAA-rated tourist attraction in Weihai, is situated within the core area of the Xianguding Scenic Area, just five kilometers from the city center. It sits on the highest peak of the northwest mountain on Wangdao Island, at an elevation of 375 meters.
The temple houses a stele inscribed in both Han and Liao scripts by Zhang Wei, dating back to the fourth year of the Jingde reign of the Song Dynasty. This stele is the oldest discovered in Weihai, as well as numerous steles from the pre-Qing Dynasty period. Other relics include stone cats and lions. The establishment of Yuxian Palace represents a modern miracle in the history of transport, carving, and construction, attracting tens of thousands of visitors annually.
It has a temperate continental semi-humid monsoon climate with distinct four seasons, moderate cold and hot seasons, synchronized light and temperature, and simultaneous rain and heat. Spring is dry and windy, summer is hot and rainy, autumn is sunny and refreshing, and winter is cold and snowy.
