Fanggu Garden, located in a secluded alley between Mashi Street and Zhida Fangbo Street in Shangcheng District, is said to have been named Fanggu Garden by the Ying family, hoping to rival the opulence of Shi Chong's Jingu Garden, described in Shishuo Xinyu.

In the early years of the Republic of China, Fanggu Garden passed into the Zhang family's possession. It later passed to Qian Junfu, a descendant of the Qian family ( and father of the renowned scientist Qian Xuesen ) , as a dowry for their daughter, Zhang Lanjuan . The alley boasts Qian Xuesen's former residence and the Hangzhou Memorial Hall of the Chinese Communist Party, among other places. These fragments of the alley's revolutionary history are rich, diverse, profound, and profound.
