Introducing Sicheng Hall

Sicheng Church, located at 132 Jiefang Road, Shangcheng District , was named in honor of Zhang Chengzhai, the first Chinese pastor. Built in the 1920s , it boasts a history spanning over 90 years and is the oldest and largest Christian church in Hangzhou. Today, it serves as a gathering place for believers, as well as the offices of the China Christian Council and the Zhejiang Theological Seminary.

Sicheng Hall features a blend of Eastern and Western architectural styles, with Chinese-style roofs and angled eaves. The building is shaped like a cross, with exterior walls constructed of stacked bricks and interior beams and columns constructed of pine wood, creating a symmetrical layout. A dipping pool sits beneath the podium on the first floor, while the second floor houses the main meeting hall. The third floor features a corridor-style window system, and the windows are traditionally latticed, similar to those found in gardens.
