Introducing Jingyi Academy

Jingyi Academy, located in Zhongshan Park on Gushan Hill in Hangzhou, was founded in 1685 (the 24th year of the Yichou year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty ). Founded by Zhao Shilin, then the Governor of Zhejiang Province, it inherited and carried forward the tradition of studying, teaching, and cultivating talents amidst the beautiful scenery of West Lake.

Jingyi Academy gathered gentlemen, elders, and prominent figures on the first day of each lunar month to discuss and exchange knowledge. On the fifteenth day of each lunar month, Confucian teachers gave lectures. After Zhao Shilin left office, the people of Hangzhou established a shrine to commemorate him at the academy's former site.
