The Ganshiling Tieleng Nature Reserve is located at the junction of southern Baoting County and Sanya. Its terrain is characterized by low mountains and hills, extending from the southern foothills of the Wuzhi Mountains. The terrain is high on all sides and slopes inward, with numerous ravines and small branches in the middle, resembling a blooming lotus. The area boasts rolling peaks, picturesque scenery, and evergreen greenery year-round. From a high vantage point, one can see the inland sea 10 kilometers to the east and Sanya in the distance to the west.
94% of the plant species in the reserve are trees, including over 20 species listed on national and provincial protected tree lists. The reserve also boasts large tracts of the rare tropical tree species, the wingless sedge, commonly known as the iron ridge. This tree, a member of the Dipterocarpaceae family, has a straight trunk and smooth, reddish-brown bark with yellow markings. Its tough wood is a prime material for furniture. The wingless sedge grows mixed in the secondary rainforest of Ganshiling, a unique ecological community discovered for the first time in my country and rarely seen abroad. The reserve also boasts numerous nationally protected species, including sambar deer and giant squirrels.
