Tianjin's "Celebrity Teahouse," founded in 1991, features a small, circular stage with a built-in entrance. Next to the stage, a sales counter displays traditional crafts and local snacks for visitors to enjoy and purchase. The teahouse was planned and designed with the guidance and assistance of Lao She's wife, Hu Xiqing, and Wu Tongbin. Its decor evokes the traditional Chinese teahouse style, with large lacquer square tables (now long tables) arranged in a pool, armchairs, carved beams and painted pillars, and several hanging palace lanterns. The atmosphere exudes an antique, elegant, and solemn atmosphere.
As a venue for Tianjin's quyi celebrities to exchange ideas and exchange ideas, Mr. Ma Sanli inscribed the plaque "Celebrity Teahouse." Lao She's wife, Hu Xiqing, even inscribed the word "Celebrity" for the teahouse, elevating its character. The Tianjin Celebrity Teahouse Art Troupe, founded in 2000, has since established Yue Opera, Drum Music, and Peking Opera troupes, and in March 2009, the Tianjin Celebrity Teahouse Crosstalk Art Troupe was established.
Active in the Celebrity Teahouse Art Troupe are veteran crosstalk artist Zhang Kuiqing, who is still performing on the national crosstalk stage, as well as young and middle-aged crosstalk artists Tong Youwei, Ma Shuchun, Yu Hao, Zhang Jie, Luo Feng, Wu Bin and others who have won numerous awards in various national quyi and crosstalk competitions.
