The White Pagoda is located in the southwest corner of Ji County, 300 meters south of Dule Temple. Originally built during the Liao Dynasty, it was formerly known as the Yuyang County Pagoda and was rebuilt during the Ming and Qing dynasties. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, a Guanyin Temple was built in front of the pagoda. Its white body gives it the nickname "White Pagoda of Guanyin Temple."
The White Pagoda is octagonal in plan, featuring a tall, waisted Sumeru pedestal, an octagonal, double-eaved pavilion-style tower, a massive stupa, and a crowning chakra (wheel of thirteen celestial beings). Standing 30.6 meters tall, it is constructed of brick and stone. Inside the pagoda gate, a relief carving of dancers and musicians is intricately crafted and lifelike, offering a valuable example for the study of Liao Dynasty music and dance.
The tower has a gate on its south side, housing a Buddhist shrine. Small, multi-story towers are located at the eight corners. The lower portion of the White Pagoda is a dense-eaves tower, while the upper portion is a covered bowl-shaped structure, making it an example of a unique Liao Dynasty tower in Chinese architecture. It is often praised as "a golden peak hangs flat against the moon in the western sky, while jade pillars support the clouds in the northern frontier."
