Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo City is located on the south bank of the Qiantang River in Hangzhou, spanning the Binjiang and Xiaoshan districts. It mainly includes the International Expo Center, the main stadium (Big Lotus), the Tennis Center (Small Lotus), the Sports Swimming Pool, the Comprehensive Training Hall, the subway-covered property, and super-high-rise twin towers. It is the third largest sports venue in the country. It is the place where leaders from various countries will meet at the G20 Summit and is also the main venue for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The main stadium is composed of 28 large petals and 27 smaller petals, hence the name " Little Lotus ." Inspired by the texture and textile system of Hangzhou silk, the architectural form is inspired by the dynamic flow of the Qiantang River. Its simple petal units resemble a beautiful lotus blossoming on the banks of the river.
The Olympic Sports Expo City will be developed into a complex urban area and a new landmark in Hangzhou, with sports and exhibitions as its primary functions, integrating cultural creativity, business offices, ecological living, leisure tourism, and other functions. A 986,000- square-meter commercial complex, equivalent to the size of 138 football fields, will be built underneath .
