Introducing Maling Ancient Trail

The Maling Ancient Trail starts from Malingjiao Village, Yuzhai Township, Pujiang County, Jinhua, and goes all the way to Lucibu, Tonglu. It winds through the mountains at the junction of Pujiang, Jiande and Tonglu. It is about 20 kilometers long, of which the Pujiang section is about 3 kilometers. It has been repeatedly rated as one of the " Top Ten Classic Ancient Trails in Zhejiang " and " The Most Beautiful Forest Ancient Trail in Zhejiang Province " .

The ancient road winds up along the mountain, along the stream, and through the terraced fields, passing through the forest. Along the way, there are ancient bridges, ancient temples, ancient houses of celebrities, ancient ruins, ancient villages, etc. In particular, the Xishan Bridge built in the Song Dynasty is a national key protected cultural relic.

Climbing the steps, you'll see a wooden archway inscribed with " Maling Ancient Road " standing right next to the entrance of the Maling Tunnel, creating a striking contrast with the quaint scenery along the way. Standing on tiptoe, you can see the towering Red Rock Peak in the distance, a 2.5- kilometer-long stone curtain, like a silk veil hanging from the sky, stretching from west to east through the clouds.

Maling got its name because the mountains undulating in the sky are shaped like a horse. According to relevant records, the Maling Ancient Road was just a steep and narrow footpath during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Zhu Baiwan , the Lingyan Gong of Zhuzhaixinwu, donated a huge amount of money to dig, widen and pave the Maling Road during the Qianlong period. Later, his grandson donated another six or seven hundred gold to repair the road. From then on, the Maling Ancient Road changed its thousand-year-old appearance.
