The ruins of the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial City are located along Songcheng Road at the eastern foot of Fenghuang Mountain, south of Hangzhou City. It stretches from present-day Fengshan Gate in the north to Wansong Ridge in the west, Houchao Gate in the east, and the Qiantang River in the south. Within a nine-li radius, the Wende, Chuigong, and Cining Palaces, as well as the Longtu Pavilion, are scattered throughout. The Zhongmei, Cuihan, Yigui, and Mingyuan Halls were built in the rear garden, and a " Little West Lake " covering over ten mu was created for the enjoyment of the emperor and his concubines. After the fall of the Southern Song Dynasty, the Fengshan Imperial City was first converted into a Buddhist temple and then destroyed by fire, leaving only its ruins.
Mantoushan Community is the main location of the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial City ruins. The white walls and black tiles, 3D murals with urban style , gardening sketches, earthen walls and old wells and other historical ancient city wall relics are considered to be the place that best represents old Hangzhou.
