The ruins of the Southern Song Dynasty Taimiao Temple are located north of Taimiao Lane, west of Zhongshan South Road in Hangzhou. In 1995, the Hangzhou Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology discovered the remains of the temple, including its eastern wall, eastern gate, and a large rammed earth platform. The site, covering a total area of 15,000 square meters, is the earliest known imperial temple site discovered in China. The Southern Song Dynasty Taimiao Ruins Park is planned for the site, and it has been designated a fifth-batch National Key Cultural Relics Protection Site.
