The former site of Mi Dachang Tobacco Shop, formerly known as Mi Shichang Tobacco Shop, is located at the fourth corner of Hefang Street in Hangzhou. It is a mottled three-story old building, famous for selling dry tobacco, and has become a century-old brand in Hangzhou.
Mi Dachang Tobacco Shop was founded in Hangzhou during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty by Mi Baocheng, a native of Mijiadai, Cixi, Zhejiang. To ensure the quality of their tobacco, they sourced from as far away as Nanxiong, Guangdong, Guangfeng, Jiangxi, and even nearby Xiaoshan, with Xinchang as their primary location. Professional craftsmen graded and priced their purchases, prioritizing leaves exposed to the sun during the hottest days of summer. They aged the leaves for three years, achieving optimal results. Their tobacco production adhered to a traditional process.
