Introducing Chenglu

Chenglu, located at No. 189 Nanshan Road , Hangzhou , was originally the former residence of Sheng Enyi, the fourth son of Sheng Xuanhuai. Later, it became the residence of Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling in Hangzhou. Together with " Ai Lu " in Shanghai and " Mei Lu " in Lushan , it is known as the three major palaces of the Chiang couple.

Chenglu is a three-story Western-style villa with three bays on each side and a cream-colored exterior. In December 1927 , Chiang Kai-shek and Soong May-ling married in Shanghai, and the first stop on their honeymoon was Chenglu on West Lake. Chiang Kai-shek also stayed here to recuperate from a back injury. After several renovations, it now serves as an activity room for veteran cadres.
