
Changlou, located next to the first bridge across Hongqiao at the northern end of Su Causeway in West Lake, was built in the 1930s. Its owner was Chang Chunheng, a famous Peking Opera actor in Shanghai. He became famous for his collaboration with famous Peking Opera actors such as Gai Jiaotian in the performance of "The Substitute Prince".
Chang's house is a Spanish-style garden house with gray walls, red tiles, pointed roofs and steep slopes. There is a private lake dock nearby.
