
The Lake and Sky Tower, known as the " Hartung Garden " by Hangzhou people, is located in the Pinghu Qiuyue Scenic Area in Hangzhou . It is a relic of the " Luoyuan " , the private villa of the Jewish wealthy businessman Hartung in the 1890s . It is a Chinese-style garden villa.
Later it became the site of Xiling Academy of Painting and Calligraphy. It was named and inscribed by Mr. Sha Menghai, the first president of Xiling Academy of Painting and Calligraphy and the famous calligrapher, adding a scholarly atmosphere to the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains.
