He was known for his integrity, his refusal to be overawed by power, his dedication to his duties, and his love for the people. A stele inscribed on his ancestral hall cites his " extraordinary achievements wherever he went, " earning him deep respect and admiration from the people.
The tomb of Gong Xiuyu is the best-preserved Qing Dynasty official tomb in Hangzhou. It covers 960 square meters, with a 63- meter-long passage. Surrounded by serene greenery and lush trees, it is built on seven platforms, following the slopes of the mountain. In front of the tomb are well-preserved stone pillars, memorial archways, pavilions, stone sheep, stone horses, stone tigers, and stone statues.
