The city is an irregular rectangle, slightly bulging in the middle and tapering at both ends. Built along the mountainside, the northern part of the city is located mid-mountain. The western gate, inscribed with the characters "Chaxi Xiongguan," and its mottled blue brick walls create a quaint and majestic landscape.
