The Imperial Bamboo Grove, located within Hongluo Temple in Huairou Town, Huairou District, Beijing, was planted by Zen Master Yunshan during the Yuan Dynasty and is one of the temple's three most scenic spots. Upon arriving at Hongluo Temple, passing through the archway and ticket gate, the first thing you see is the Imperial Bamboo Grove. These lush bamboos have been growing here for over 600 years. Emperor Kangxi personally instructed the monks and local officials to protect them.

The bamboo forest isn't very large, but it's home to millions of bamboos. These are the yellow-grooved bamboos of Beijing, known for their green trunks and yellow grooves, earning them the nickname "jade inlaid with gold."
