The Qikongqiao Flower Sea, located west of the Ming Tombs Reservoir, has become incredibly famous in recent years, reaching near-universal recognition. Spanning over a thousand acres, its density and scale are rare in Beijing. Passing by, you'll be greeted by vast expanses of "flower waves," swaying gracefully in the breeze, creating a dreamlike beauty.
But it's more than just a sea of flowers. In late autumn, while most of the grass and flowers near the Seven-Arch Bridge have faded, the sea of flowers has all but vanished. Yet, at this moment, the vast expanse of cotinus coggygria trees lining the "sea of flowers" is already ablaze with color. From above and up close, the vibrant crimson is breathtakingly beautiful. The Seven-Arch Bridge flower sea of spring and summer, caressed by the autumn breeze, transforms into a "Seven-Arch Bridge Sea of Red."
The temperate monsoon climate is in full bloom from June to mid-October, but the red maple leaves are also very beautiful in late autumn.

The Qikong Bridge Flower Sea is a relatively modern attraction in Beijing, designed to showcase the beauty of seasonal flowers. It serves as both a recreational park and an agricultural showcase, celebrating floral biodiversity and offering visitors a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
Located in the Fangshan District of Beijing, the Flower Sea is accessible by taxi or private vehicle. You can also take a public bus to nearby stops and then walk to the park entrance. The closest metro station is a bit far, so taxi or bus is recommended.
The Qikong Bridge Flower Sea is typically open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The best times to visit are in spring and summer when the flowers are in full bloom, especially from May to July.
The entrance fee is around 30 RMB per person. Tickets can be purchased on-site at the entrance or online through local tourism platforms.
Booking tickets in advance is not necessary, but it is recommended during peak tourist seasons or weekends. You can book tickets a few days in advance through Chinese online platforms.
It usually takes about 1 to 2 hours to explore the flower fields, depending on how much time you spend walking through the paths or participating in activities like flower picking or photography.
Guided tours are available in Chinese. Audio guides in Chinese are also provided for self-guided visitors. English-speaking tours are less common, but some staff might assist in English if needed.
Start at the main entrance, explore the flower fields, and make your way towards the Qikong Bridge for panoramic views. Conclude with a walk through the gardens and themed flower sections.
There are no regular night visits or light shows at this site. It is primarily a daytime attraction, best visited during daylight hours to fully appreciate the flowers.
The site can get crowded during weekends, especially in peak bloom seasons (spring and summer). The least crowded times are weekdays, particularly in the mornings.
There are public toilets, small food stalls offering snacks and drinks, and rest areas throughout the park. A few souvenir shops sell local goods and flower-related products.
The Flower Sea is generally accessible for elderly visitors and children, though some parts of the park may have uneven paths. It is advisable to check for specific accessibility features before visiting.
Mobile payments like WeChat Pay and Alipay are widely accepted. Cash and cards are also accepted, though mobile payment options are the most common method for transactions.
Nearby restaurants offer traditional Chinese dishes, including local specialties and fresh produce. There are also a few cafes within the park that offer drinks and light snacks.
Vegetarian and vegan options are available in some of the nearby restaurants. Halal food options are less common in the immediate area but can be found in larger parts of Beijing.
Souvenir shops near the entrance offer flower-related products, postcards, local handicrafts, and small trinkets that represent the park's floral theme.
After visiting, taxis are the most convenient option for onward travel. Alternatively, public buses and metro stations are available, though they may require transfers depending on your destination.
