Located between Hebei Road and Luoyang Road on Wudadao, Xiannong Courtyard was built in 1925 and designed by Reid, a British engineer from the Xiannong Engineering Co., Ltd. The original Xiannong Courtyard consisted of two independent townhouses and two independent apartment-style residences, each with a simple and warm atmosphere, featuring red-tiled double-sloped roofs and plain red brick walls. After nearly a century of weathering, these rows of foreign-style houses nestled within the courtyard resemble a landscape chronicle, a blend of classic and modern elements, offering a rich tapestry of history and stories.

Jianliangji is Xiannongyuan's own creative market. Its three-story building embodies the compound's aesthetic and promotes a simple, joyful lifestyle. The basement level is the heart of Jianliangji, where a vibrant palette of MUJI and Morandi colors permeates the space. It offers a platform for independent designers to showcase and sell their wares.
