The China Pavilion at the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, located in Beijing's Yanqing District, is a landmark building of the Beijing Expo. Drawing on traditional bracket-shaped arches and mortise-and-tenon joints, the structure emulates the ancient wisdom of nesting and cave dwelling. Its exterior resembles both an ancient Chinese palace and a thatched cottage or farmhouse. The main exhibition hall is nestled beneath terraced fields, where a golden roof shrouds a vibrant display of flowers. From an aerial view, the graceful, flowing curves of the roof resemble an exquisite golden ruyi (a sacred symbol) nestled amidst natural scenery.
The China Pavilion, with a total exhibition area of 15,000 square meters, is divided into four major exhibition areas: the Achievements of Horticulture Industries in Various Chinese Provinces, Autonomous Regions, and Municipalities; China's Ecological Culture; Research Achievements from Chinese Horticultural Universities and Research Institutions; and Illustration Art of Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage. Each area showcases China's traditional culture and national strength with unparalleled flair. Walking through them, one will naturally feel a sense of pride and satisfaction as a Chinese.
