Beijing Sport University, abbreviated as BSU, is one of the first national key universities designated by the State Council after the founding of the People's Republic of China, a key institution under the "211 Project," and one of the first universities in the country to be designated a "Double First-Class" university with world-class disciplines. As of July 2009, the university had produced over 50 world championship champions, over 60 Asian championship champions, over 10 Asian record-breaking athletes, and over 600 national championship champions. It is a reserve base for my country's outstanding athletes, having produced Olympic champions such as Zou Kai, Zheng Lihui, Zhu Qinan, and Zhang Na.
