The Karajun Grassland, a World Heritage Site and the veritable "King of the Ili Grasslands," was the first Tianshan Grassland that the China-TravelNote team visited. It defies the common perception of "boundless, flat grasslands" and instead presents a "three-dimensional grassland" landscape of undulating terrain, interwoven with snow-capped mountains, forests, and river valleys.
In the summer, the Kalajun Grasslands are awash with blooming flowers, herds of cattle and sheep, and dotted with yurts. In the distance, the majestic, snow-capped Tianshan Mountains loom, creating a stunning photo op. Tourists can freely roam the blossoming meadows, hike to the edge of the grassland canyon, and overlook the aerial grasslands and third-level planation surface, as well as the vivid Crocodile Bay and the famous "Human Grassland."
From mid-June to mid-September each year, the Kalajun grasslands are in prime season. Around 200,000 livestock from Tekes, Gongliu, and other counties migrate here to escape the summer heat and gain weight. The scenery is breathtaking, with snow-capped mountains and endless grasslands. Flowers, cattle, sheep, and snow-capped mountains form a vibrant canvas.
