He initially constructed the garden primarily as a place for horse racing gamblers to relax and have fun. At the garden's back door lies an artificial waterfall known as the "Milky Way Cascading Down." Standing on the Pilian Bridge, one gazes out into the distance, where the Milky Way hangs upside down, cascading down. The waterfall cascades into a pond depicting the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea. The eight fairies, formed from stacked rockery, appear lifelike as they rest in the water. The pond is surrounded by a jagged pattern of Taihu stones, resembling swimming dragons and crouching bears. Atop the hill stands a four-cornered, twelve-pillar cement pavilion, where General Zhang Zhizhong commanded his troops during the August 13th War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. While the figures are gone, the pavilion remains, and the monument endures.
